Blue Green be Clean is another nifty development for maintaining "water quality" in your Instant Sea-O-Wonders Aquarium.

Occasionally (usually the result of over feeding) things can go out of balance in aquariums and that's when dark green or blue-green "Slime Algae" can begin to over grow everything. Remember that (as previously stated in other topics), algae is beneficial for your Sea-O-Wonders critters and a little bit growing here and there is to be encouraged, however a common saying is "too much of a good thing can be a bad thing" and in the case of dark green slime algae an over growth can be untidy even ugly looking. Historically (especially for Sea Monkeys keepers) there has never been an easy way to control the dark green slime algae problem if it does get out of hand until Little Aussie Products Instant Sea-O-Wonders Aquarium products came along that is.

Blue-Green Be Clean" does exactly what it promises to do!
Blue Green Be Clean will control dark green slimy algae but leave untouched the more nutritious and edible types for your Sea-O-Wonders community. The beneficial and nutritious types of algae don't look nearly so dirty, as the dark green or slimy types and most importantly when the good algae are left in the aquarium to do their job they provide a natural food for your sea pets to enjoy.

Why does blue/green algae eventually take over after the tank is old and established?
Firstly an over growth of blue/green slime algae is a sign that there are to many nutrients building up in the water over time You may also notice that the water has taken on a tint of yellow in it as well. This yellowish or brownish stain in the water can be controlled with our new "Purification Baggies". The nutrient build up comes from the break down of all the food that your sea dragons have eaten over time plus their own waste products. Just like the salts in your Instant Sea-O-Wonders Aquarium, these nutrients can not escape the water and so eventually the concentration of waste nutrients builds up over time. That's when the nutrient greedy blue/green slime algae starts to take over the aquarium!

How do control an excessive growth of slime algae?
There are several things that you can do to check the growth of blue/green slime algae. If the blue/green has really over grown then you may need to control it with with a physical removal procedure listed bellow.

Steps

If the tank has a lot of slime algae you can also attempt to remove your Sea-O-Wonders pets to another temporary housing such as a clean jar using one of our "Aqua-Slurpa tools",
Then strain the remaining water through a "Coffee filter".
Whilst the water is straining through the filter you can also wash the tank gravel and decorations to remove as much of the slime algae as possible.
Now that the water has been strained you can pour the clean water back into the tank and replace your sea pets.
It is recommended to dose the tank with Blue-Green Be Clean as a grow back preventative.
Now continue to dose Blue-Green be Clean according to the directions until the slime algae are under control. When there is no sign of slime algae then you can use one of our Purification Baggies to take out any residual yellow discoloration in the water.
