Instant Sea-O-Wonders, Medicine for Fading Babies

This is Little Aussie Products first in a planed line of therapies specially designed for treating sickly Sea Dragons and other Artemia species such as "Brine Shrimp" and "Sea Monkeys" that you might choose to keep in your Instant Sea-O-Wonders Aquarium.

As with all aquarium pets, when things go out of balance and disease strikes it can happen fast!
Especially for baby Sea Dragons who are more sensitive to disease than their parents in the first few weeks of life.
At Little Aussie Products, we are committed to developing a full and complete range of products for your Sea-O-Wonders Aquarium, and having the tools to fight against ailments that make your little ones feel poorly or shorten their life span is our top priority! We don’t want any Sea-O-Wonders Critters to suffer unnecessarily without any way to treat them in the unfortunate event that a disease out break does happen.
So now after years of dedicated research we proudly introduce to you our first “real medicine” for ailing Sea Dragons.

What is Fading Baby Disease?
Fading Baby Disease is a harmful bacteria (but not harmful to humans) that strikes newly hatched Sea Dragons or Sea Monkeys sometime within the first few days to weeks after hatching.

How do they get it?
Most often when the directions are followed the specially balanced formula that the kit is designed with will protect your new hatchlings from an over population of harmful bacteria, but occasionally if the balance is not quite right in your particular set of sachets, or if the temperature has been very cold at night or some other stressful factor is apparent. The balance between bacteria, oxygen, and water quality can be thrown out entirely. If this  happens to your hatchlings you need to consider changing their environment immediately if you plan to save them. Consider placing a thermometer close by so you can watch the temperature. You want to treat your sick hatchling Sea Dragons just like you would a sick baby and raise the temperature to make them warm and cosy. Do this by place the hatching container in the warmest part of the house.  Be prepared to place a desk lamp over them to help keep the surrounding temperature warm at night. Start a regular 1 -2 hourly oxygenation vigil, preferably with either an Aqua-Bubbler as by this stage pouring back and forward or stirring may do more harm than good because your hachlings will be weak from being ill and wont tolerate any buffeting like they would if they were strong and healthy.

A second type of Fading Baby Disease can creep in to a Sea-O-Wonder's Aquarium. This variety of the illness does not seem to effect adults but you will notice that when a pregnant mother gives birth to a brood of live babies, they will fade over the next few days This type is harder to control and will need intervention with our "Medicine for Fading Baby Disease".

Symptoms of fading baby disease and what to look out for.

  • Sea Dragon mothers give birth to live babies but all the new born seem to perish in a few days despite adequate feeding and good aeration.
  • New eggs added to the same tank have the same result where the babies die over a few days after hatching.
  • Babies normally show no sign of any feeding (This can be observed by looking for the tell tale line of dark food particles in their small bodies, if this is not there then they are not feeding).
  • Babies swim slowly or with difficulty.
  • Sometimes little gooey white fluff balls or slime can be seen clinging to the babies and parents that either hinders or stops the little ones from swimming properly.
  • Parents can be afflicted by this illness too and have the same little fluff balls but usually to a lesser degree and the adults usually survive.
  • Eventually the parents pass on from old age and any new babies that do hatch after the parents have gone never seem to survive for long.
  • Unfortunately once this ailment strikes, it remains present in their tank and is very persistent and very hard to get rid of. Historically the only thing to do in this  situation was to empty the tank clean everything and start over with clean fresh tank!
  • Finally after a lengthy period of research, Little Aussie has developed a remedy that can treat this terrible condition.
  • Fading Baby medicine contains a specially selected range of pro-biotic friendly cultures and vitamins to promote health and well being whilst also establishing the correct ecology to an ailing system.

Saved my Tank September 17, 2011
Reviewer: Russ Schmidt from Collierville, TN United States
I thought why bother when I can get a new box for only a little more but decided I would go ahead since I live in the US, so I wouldn't have to wait weeks for a new order and pay the extra shipping in case something went wrong.
Glad I did!
I hatched the eggs and for a few weeks everything was fine. I had about 20-25 Sea dragons one morning. Then later that day I looked in and there were only about 15 or so swimming around at the top, and I didn't think anything else of it. The next morning I only had 6 left in my tank and a cloudy looking thing floating in my tank. I added the medicine, following the instructions, and a few days later I had only 2 large survivors. After adding egg-splosion powder also found here, 10-15 little bitty babies happily swam around in my tank. Now after a full week I can see about 20 or so little Sea Dragons happily eating their first meal.

Update: WOW this works for Sea Monkeys too. Sadly I was only able to save 1 Sea Monkey.

It Works! February 16, 2009
Reviewer: Robyn  from Tamworth, NSW Australia
I already had an existing tank of sea monkeys that were dying off due to the dreaded little 'balls of fluff'.  I removed as many as I could find and added the Medicine as directed.  I had 5 remaining sea monkeys. One died the next day but it was very very poorly and all of the babies had already died.  The result was that no more sea monkeys died ...so I give it a thumbs up.

My monkeys are noticeably happier and some of them have egg sacks now so hopefully we'll have lots of babies soon!

Update...
Ok so we are now two weeks past the first time I used the Medicine. All of my remaining adult sea monkeys are now carrying egg sacks and there are 4 or more tiny babies happily swimming around.   I don't recall seeing my sea monkeys happier and we are looking forward to seeing lots of new babies soon.  I would also recommend adding the Algae Alive to the tank as well...the sea monkeys love it.  Awesome, thank you Little Aussie Products.
