What are Teeny Weeny Winkles?
Winkles are beautiful, petite, purplish sea-snails that live by the seashore and are an adorable addition to any Sea-O-Wonders Aquarium. All of the Sea-O-Wonders pet range can live together happily because they do not fight, are similarly sized, like the same size and type of housing, and eat the same kinds of foods (which is primarily algae based). All these qualities fit together to make the Instant Sea-O-Wonders critter collection a very hardy and compatible collection of pets.
So how can they get to me Australia?
The simplest explanation is - Teeny Weeny Winkles just love to sleep. In fact these remarkable but cute little sleepy heads will happily stay put high up on a cliff face well above where any waves would reach and snooze away the months, not just weeks i tell you, but months! Even more astounding, these sleepy little sea snails will often snore right on through the heat of summer with out even needing to wake up for so much as a drink of water!
Becasue these remarkable snails have this remarkable ability to stay asleep in very hot and dry places high up on sea side cliffs they also can be shipped anywhere around the world, safely and with ease and with out any bother. Once winkles are sleeping as described, they go into a deep state of sleep called Aestivation which enables them to survive the extremes of dryness and wildly changing temperatures that may go on outside their protective little shell. In this sense sleeping winkles are very much the same as the resting eggs (known to scientists as cysts) made by Sea Monkeys which can also be stored like garden seeds for many years.
What do I do when my Winkles arrive?
When you receive your Teeny Weeny Winkles shipment simply place them straight into your Sea-O-Wonders aquarium to watch the show. You wont beleive your eyes as you whitness these whimsical little fellows instantly spring to life, have a bit of a yawn and stretch, then begin searching for a tasty bit of algae to munch on. Once your Winkles have settled in they will work very hard cleaning your Instant Sea-O-Wonders Aquarium and just love to roost in the lid of their new home.
