Welcome to little Aussie Products.

1. What does Little Aussie Products have to offer?

We develop and manufacture hardy mail order "Instant Pets" that can be easily shipped World Wide. When ordering from Little Aussie you can be assured we guarantee your order will arrive safely. What are Instant Pets? We have a passionate interest in Animals that can hatch out from dried eggs (much like how garden seeds germinate after you add water to them), and critters that are able to go into what is known as "suspended animation".  All of the animals and plants that we offer have this capability making them ideal for mail order, so that's is why we fondly call them "Instant Pets. Secondly we have a fun way of marketing what we make and love to add lots of colourful illustrations to our packaging and web site's that children very much enjoy.

2. Who are Little Aussie Products for?

Our main drive is to supply both an educational, creative and stimulating experience for children and adults who are young at heart via our unique and interesting range of "Instant Pets", because we love to accompany our little critters with colourful art work and interesting story lines they are very attractive to children but anyone who has an interest in bringing some nature indoors to their office space, reception desk, bedroom, window sill or small observation table will enjoy our products. We have a very active "forum" and dedicated websites for each of our main products to utilize for further information, queries or help.

3. What are the benefits to keeping Little Aussie's Instant Pets?

One of the challenges for many in modern day life is time and space.

Time

As we are busier these days we don't have as much time to dedicate to permanent long lasting pets and so this may influence the decision on whether to invest in them or not. To answer this we have developed some very interesting life cycle studies called Billabong Bugs and Doodle Bugs that are great for this type of situation. Billabong Bugs in particular are a fantastic fast growing short term pet that is ideal to be enjoyed over a shorter space of time than with say fish in a fish tank that may last many years and eventually be quite costly in electricity, feeding,  maintenance equipment and care treatment. As Billabong Bugs live in temporary puddles they have a relatively short life span of 2 -3 months. During this time they will lay eggs so you can always harvest some of their eggs and hatch them out again if you want to continue with the fun later, but most importantly if the need is there for just a short life cycle, then these are the ideal pet for you. Further most of our other pets life span range from about 1 year to 2 years so even they are not a long term commitment as it can be with bigger animals.

Space

All of our pets take up very little space compared to other animals, at Little Aussie we put a lot of emphases and believe there is a lot of charm in "miniature". Take our Itsy Bitsy Sea Dragons for example. All you need is a small vase or interesting jar no bigger than 1 -2 litres (1/2 Gal) in size, that means the amount of space required is usually no bigger 10 -15 cm (7 inch) on your desk. You can keep a complete ecosystem of critters with your sea dragons too, as tank mates your Sea Dragons,  you can have, Coco Snails, Winkles, Sea Bubbles and Sea Puggles all complete with a lovely and colourful range of decorations and accessories to keep them with. Secondly we are very proud of the hardiness of our little crew and guarantee that they will ship to you alive and happy anywhere in Australia or in the world for that matter! We are also committed to finding more cool little critters  that will go with our "little sea theme" and we are always working on new developments so please keep us book marked and visit regularly so you can see whats new. For instance we are currently working on an instant plant that when you add water it unfurls and comes to life which we are sure will be a great hit with green thumbs or a good mothers day present for kids to buy.

History of the enterprise, and John Bodman

Little Aussie Products is based in Brisbane, Qld Australia. We are a small creative enterprise founded in 2004 by

John Bodman (38 yrs); an Artist by education (Ba Vis Arts QUT 98) who over the years has consistently displayed a wide interest in such diverse themes as photography, bush walking, nature (with a passion for suspended animation as a survival strategy in the harsh Australian environment), crystology (crystal growing) and space themes such as NASA's research into life on Mars "exobiology" and lastly, one of his favorite past times is keeping up to date with pop culture of all kinds. After finishing his studies John participated in local aquarium societies including ANGFA and the Queensland Aquarium Society where he did talks and also won awards for set up and display of fish as well as the entomological Society of Queensland where he is currently a member, he also had a small business farming many ornamental and native fish species supplying local and national aquarium shops on wholesale basis. In recent years, John has developed several products including Itsy Bitsy Sea Dragons, Teeny Weeny Winkles, Coco Snails, Sea Bubbles and Sea Puggles, Billabong Bugs and Bug Moss, Aqua-Aliens and Doodle Bugs. John and his Billabong Bugs have appeared on television on several occasions most recently on Better homes and Gardens with Dr Harry Cooper.

As director of Little Aussie Products, he is an inveritable dynamo, overseeing the greater part of the enterprise including such fields as research and development, enterprise management, customer service, art work, design and web design, animal production and product manufacture. Little Aussie currently sends products all over the world. We have an extensive list of clients ranging from a large fan base of national and international retail customers and we also cater to wholesale; including toy shops, museums, nature parks and educational school suppliers. John always strives to produce (what he identifies as) "exciting artworks which are educational, a common theme being learning about nature, and life cycles while you have fun". John is dedicated to promoting greater awareness and knowledge of our environment, ecology and conservation but also has a light; perhaps wacky sense of humor that he hopes is detectable throughout all areas of his work. Little Aussie’s kits are excellent as a tool for teaching about nature, both entertaining the pupal and the teacher from slightly different vantage points. Little Aussie Products create artfully illustrated, educational products that suit all types of minds; we investigate life cycles and prepare these incredible little "time traveling pets" to be hatched in your very own home. Little Aussie Products are always researching to develop new products that will give you the entertainment, fascination and satisfaction that you are looking for in a quality purchase.
